CS371p Spring 2021: Michael Liu

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Houston, TX.

What high school did you attend?

I attended Seven Lakes High School.

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

My favorite extracurricular activity in high school was football.

Why did you come to UT?

I came to UT because it’s a good school.

Why are you majoring in CS?

I’m majoring in CS because I like computer science.

Why are you in this class?

I’m in this class because I took SWE last semester and I really like Professor Downing.

What are your expectations of this class?

I expect to learn C++.

How much C++ do you already know?

I only know the C++ we learned in OS.

How did you like the two lectures?

They were informative.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

I personally don’t like cold calling however I understand that its a useful mechanic to maintain class engagement.

What made you happy this week?

I’m happy to be back in school and with my friends.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is that when coding, TTD (test driven development) — writing the tests first then writing the code in order to pass the tests — can be a very useful practice to improve code quality.
